Cutout Composition Assignment (part four)

Now to finish up the asymmetrical cutout...

I wanted the unicorn to fly over the city.

So I cut out what appears to be a silhouette of some buildings.

The windows form the word, DREAM.

For the clouds I cut out some handmade paper I bought from  Daiso.

To give the cutout a evening/night kind of look I painted the buildings black.

Added some ready cut out foam tapes behind
the unicorn to give it a pop up effect.

After the paint dried I glued a piece of paper
behind it so that the windows are visible.

I cut out an identical building silhouette from a piece of
black felt to create shadows for the buildings

Added some little sparrows and glitter.

Used two layers of foam tape.

Curled up the wings a little to make it look as if the birds are flying.

I added some hot air balloon I cut out from black felt and
mounted my artwork with some lace tape at the bottom.

Cutout Composition Assignment (part three)

There's what I did for the background of my symmetrical cutout. :)

I drew swirly patterns representing energy
given out from the fierce unicorn.

Used my best friend sharpie to colour it

Then I scanned it into my computer.

And voila! I duplicated the pattern.

I printed an extra copy to cut out.

The swirly cutouts are then pasted onto the background,
giving it a little pop up look.

And. there you go, my symmetrical paper cutout.

Cutout Composition Assignment (part two)

After all the sketching i proceed to doing the background and all...

For the background of the asymmetrical cutout
I used handmade paper i bought from a shop called Daiso.

I then used coffee to give it a nice shade of brown.

I tried using poster paint (as you can spot the colour difference at the bottom)
but the results weren't as nice as coffee.

No time to waste! Set the dryer on high because i can't wait for it to dry.
.

Oh it smells so good!
Especially after the coffee was 'roasted' under the dryer. ;)

In order to make the symmetrical cutout well... symmetrical.
I did a the cutout on a black piece of paper and cut it in half.

I then scanned it into my computer and did a little magic.
(I meant photoshop)

Added some colours to it.

And the cutting began.

Cutout Composition Assignment (part one)

Alrighty, before my mid semester break a new assignment was given. This assignment was about paper cutouts and composition which was part of the previous assignment too. Two paper cutouts are required to be produced, one is to be symmetrical and the other to be asymmetrical.

And so the sketching began...
I chose unicorns as my theme because they can appear to be sweet or fierce.

I fell in love with this unicorn I drew and decided to use it for the asymmetrical cutout.

So I photocopied the unicorn and coloured it.
They are so cute I pasted them all over my wall. ;)

For the symmetrical cutout I decided to do a fierce unicorn.

Handmade with love

I love to customize my own accessories, especially bracelets. I have quite a tiny wrist (about 13cm in circumference) so I always end up altering my bracelets. I love to use belts because I can stick studs on them and cut the length to fit my wrist perfectly.

Handmade keyboard necklace

Self assembled bracelet (charms from vintage 1988)

Made from my old belt.

POD's 2nd Assignment

For this assignment each of us had to choose a subject matter. In my case I chose Bo Peep and Friends. I had to hold a black frame made of mounting board as my view finder in every photo of the subject matter taken. Using it to compose and crop the photos. We were required to make a short movie clip with the photo's taken. This assignment was given a duration of 2 weeks to accomplish.
